A Houston man spent 140 days in jail on a child endangerment charge, until video surveillance footage exonerated him.
Billy Davis, 34, had an argument while driving with his son and his son’s mother in May. The fight got so bad, Davis said he pulled over and went into a convenience store to call the police.
“She got my son’s stuff out of the vehicle all of his items are her items,” Davis said. “And I drove off.”
A few days after the incident, Davis was accused of removing his son from the car and driving off and charged with child endangerment. He spent 140 days in jail.
Finally, surveillance video from a Mexican restaurant near where the incident occurred was reviewed and showed it the child’s mother removing him from the car.
“That’s the reason I’m free right now,” Davis said. “if it wasn’t for the video I’d probably still be incarcerated.”
Davis was released from Harris County jail after being no-billed by a grand jury.
